Neighbor Ladies

During the late 1950’s and 1960’s American cities saw a rise in an unethical real estate technique known as ‘blockbusting’, a practice that challenged the diversity of neighborhoods as it created racial panic. In the Mount Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia, a group of women decided to fight back. Using grassroots organizing and legal maneuvering, this documentary introduces nine women who, each in their own way, helped integrate and stabilize their community.
