Introduction:
SDARJ seeks an Executive Director (ED) to partner with the Steering Committee to implement the strategic vision and plan of the organization. This position may be full-time or part-time and reports directly to the SDARJ Steering Committee Chair. The ED’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
About SDARJ:
The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice is a non-partisan organization that educates, informs, and advocates for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunity.
Responsibilities:
General Public Outreach:
- Support Steering Committee projects, actively engage in growing contacts, volunteer lists, can target social media outreach, newsletters, direct mail, voter registration, and texting campaigns.
- Drive outreach to provide relevant news media, direct mail and keep all informed by building and continuing to maintain relationships with local, county, and national leaders.
- Assist with Public Relations and serve as a spokesperson when requested and appropriate.
Fundraising
- Collaborate with the Fundraising Committee to identify and pursue new revenue sources and fundraising programs for the organization, including potential individual and PAC donors from constituent groups.
- Assist the Chair with building and maintaining relationships with donors and donor groups, following up as needed, and actively participating in Fundraising Events, and other relevant committees to continue to maintain and enhance the strong SDARJ brand.
- Use external presence and relationships to maintain and attract new opportunities.
Administration
- Engage with officers and committees to manage operations (data, reporting, and event/activity debriefings). Assist in preparing materials for Executive Committee meetings, conventions, and special events.
- Serve as thought-leader and advocate for SDARJ internally and externally. Perform additional duties as requested by Chair and in partnership with Steering Committees.
- Continue to promote a culture rooted in compassion, innovation, and flexibility to support team members’ hard work and sustain a healthy, energetic morale in a sometimes-challenging environment.
- Collaborate with the finance committee to ensure the organization operates in a manner that supports programs, staff, and stewardship of the organization.
- Provide strategic guidance on branding, messaging, and marketing efforts to raise awareness, visibility, and increase community support of the SDARJ’s mission and vision.
Qualifications:
- Required: four-year college degree, with a minimum of 3-5+ years of Fundraising/Executive Director experience.
- Non-profit management experience a plus and leading a performance/outcomes-based organization and/or staff.
- Ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next level of growth.
- Commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation.
- Proven successes working with a Steering Committee with the ability to cultivate existing relationships.
- Strong marketing, public relations, fundraising, and grant management experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
- Ability to effectively partner and collaborate with diverse groups of people.
- The ED should have passion, integrity, a positive attitude, be mission-driven, and self-directed.
