SDARJ African American Achievement Award at Lewes Elementary
The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ) recently honored Ty’Asia Whaley and Zyaire White, students at Lewes Elementary School.
Ty’Asia, who is in fifth grade, is a quiet leader in her classroom, always setting a positive example through her diligent work and determination. She is known for her kindness, often offering help to those who struggle and ensuring that everyone feels included. Ty’Asia’s hard work and gentle support create a nurturing environment where everyone can thrive.
Zyaire, in fourth grade, always strives to do his best, tackling challenges with perseverance and determination. Zyaire works well with others and is always willing to lend a hand to a friend in need. His relentless effort and positive attitude make him a standout student and an inspiration to those around him.
Accompanied by school staff, Ty’Asia and Zyaire were honored in a ceremony at the school, and each received a $20 gift card from SDARJ.
SDARJ initiated the African American Achievement award to recognize students who represent the ideals of leadership, effort, and excellence in their schools. Students from each school in the Cape Henlopen and Indian River School Districts are recognized throughout the school year. SDARJ is a nonpartisan organization that educates, informs, and advocates for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunity. For more information, go to sdarj.org.
