Honoring Bernedette Abram for leadership & excellence
The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ) recently honored Long Neck Elementary fifth grader Bernedette Abram for her leadership, effort, and excellence.
Bernedette’s principal, Kathleen Wilson, said, “At Long Neck Elementary we are a community that inspires leaders. Bernedette Abram is a great leader. She always participates in class and works well with others, especially in collaborative groups. She is always willing to help other students and adults.”
Recently, Bernedette was recommended to join the Long Neck chapter of the National Elementary Honor Society. This is a result of her hard work at home and school and her dedication to her studies. She is a role model for other students in the school.
Accompanied by Principal Wilson and her teacher, Kylie Albright, Bernedette was honored in a ceremony at the school and received a $20 gift card from SDARJ.
SDARJ initiated the African American Achievement award to recognize students who represent the ideals of leadership, effort, and excellence in their schools. Students from each school in the Cape Henlopen and Indian River School Districts are recognized throughout the school year. SDARJ is a nonpartisan organization that educates, informs, and advocates for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunity. For more information, go to sdarj.org/about.
