Stand Up for America and Vote! Town Hall

Event Details

How do you feel about America today?

Does the polarization of our society trouble you?

Our entire nation is polarized, from the halls of Congress to the local citizenry.

Does the us vs. them mentality make you feel that only certain groups have the right to be called Americans or patriots?

What is your vision for America?

America belongs to everyone, not just to “us” or “them.” In order to ensure that our voices are heard, we must vote.  The importance of voting cannot be overstated.  It is both a right and requirement of citizenship.  We should not vote for a party.  We should not vote for “us” instead of “them.”  We should vote for the candidates who will act in the best interests of the citizenry and who will act to preserve democracy. As Michele Obama so eloquently said, “It’s up to us—all of us—to be the solution we seek… it’s up to all of us to be the antidote to all the darkness and division. To stand up not just for our basic freedoms but for decency and humanity… for basic respect, dignity, and empathy… for the values at the very foundation of this democracy.”

Join us on October 29 for a panel discussion featuring youth voices including students, the campaign manager of the ACLU Delaware Voting Rights Coalition, and community leaders on what voting means to them, how we can work to make voting more accessible in Delaware, and how to work to get the America we want.
