Christy Taylor to Perform at MLK Event
Christy Taylor and the Shades of Blue Collective is one of the many musical groups who will perform at MLK: From Civil Rights to Black Lives Matter at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach on Friday, January 12 at 7 PM. This energetic, intergenerational music ensemble and band performs across diverse music genres — from spirituals and gospel to Motown, soul, R&B and contemporary pop. The group has performed throughout coastal Sussex County and the Tristate area. Christy Taylor, the group’s music director, owns and operates Taylor Music Studios in Georgetown.

Other performers will include Gwendolyn Miller, The Reminders, The Camp Rehoboth ALLIANCE Singers, The Praise Choir of Friendship Baptist Church of Lewes, and Joyful Expressions from Friendship United Methodist Church of Millsboro. The music will be supplemented by a dazzling array of segregation-era pictures from the Lewes Historical Society. Well-known Coast TV personality Paul Williams will emcee the event.
Tickets for the event are $25 and children under 12 are free. Proceeds benefit SDARJ programs including scholarships, academic recognition, criminal justice reform, Black Voices Magazine, racial reconciliation workshops, and more.
