This is a dynamic program that moves us from talk to a greater understanding of those in our communities. You’ve had conversations about racism before, but this program dives into the real issues and root causes and evolves to building new friendships and opportunities to be involved in our community with a goal of finding solutions to achieving SDARJ’s vision of “ending racism and its corrosive consequences.”

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) issued the following statement from Tafeni English-Relf, director of the Alabama State Office and the Civil Rights Memorial Center, in response to the American Bar Association’s passage of Resolution 402, which encourages the removal of racial and ethnic bias symbols of the Confederate States of America and depictions of Confederate leaders from courthouses. The resolution passed unopposed.

The Sunshine Circle Club is sponsoring a week-long celebration of Kwanzaa! Beginning December 26 and running through January 1, various local organizations will present each of the 7 Kwanzaa Principle. Each program begins at 7:00 p.m. and will run no longer the 30 minutes.
