Throughout Sussex County we find many small communities that have been historically black and underserved. We might drive by them often and not even know that they exist. In all too many cases, the needs of these communities have been ignored by the State and County Governments. Yet these communities have persisted and, in many cases, thrived for generations. For this Town Hall, we will meet some of the leaders of these communities, explore their history, their challenges and accomplishments over the years.
Speakers will include Bruce Wright, from First State Community Action Agency, who will provide an overview of the communities in the County and discuss the Strong Communities Initiative that has been developed to assist them. We will be joined by Brenda Milbourne, Evelyn Wilson and Loretta Benson who will share their reflections on the communities they represent: West Rehoboth, Coverdale, and the New Hope and Old State Road areas of Ellendale.
