The closing event at this year’s History Book Festival, features Tiya Miles
This year’s festival closing event is on Sunday, September 29, at 2:30 PM at the Cape Henlopen High School Theatre.
SDARJ is pleased to serve as a Community Partner for the History Book Festival in Lewes. The Closing Event on Sunday, September 29, will feature Tiya Miles and her book, “Night Flyer: Harriet Tubman and the Faith Dreams of a Free People.” The event will open with a presentation on Underground Railroad “code songs” by Linda D. About the author
Tiya Miles is the Michael Garvey Professor of History at Harvard University, the author of five prize-winning works on the history of slavery and early American race relations, and a 2011 MacArthur Fellowship recipient. She was the founder and director of the Michigan-based ECO Girls program. Her book All That She Carried: The Journey of Ashley’s Sack, A Black Family Keepsake was a New York Times bestseller that won the 2021 National Book Award for nonfiction.
