SDARJ recognizes youth education participants

During the winter and spring, the youth education committee of the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice delivered Zoom modules to volunteer student participants from Sussex Tech, Sussex Academy and Cape Henlopen high schools.

The modules addressed the topics of cultural competence, anti-racism and the history of slavery in Delaware.

Module coordinators from the alliance virtually provided short lectures, discussions and breakout groups, and helped coordinate student development of shared resources.  Read the entire Cape Gazette article here.

SDARJ awards Cape High students

April 26, 2021

Cape High students and twin sisters Amaya and Aya Daisey were recognized April 15 with the African American/Black Achievement Award from the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice.

The students were chosen because they demonstrate leadership, improvement, effort and excellence for both their peers and staff, teachers said.

SDARJ Awards Students for Academic Achievement

Cape Henlopen High School seniors Abigail Ikechi-Konkwo and Jordan Winkfield are the first two students in the school district to receive the African American/Black Achievement Recognition Award from the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ). The SDARJ’s Education Committee initiated the award to recognize students who represent ideals of leadership, effort and excellence in their schools.
