Congratulations Jvonne Oliver! Named an Inaugural Felmon D. Motley Community Service Award Honoree
The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice is proud to congratulate board member Jvonne Oliver, who has been named one of five honorees in the inaugural class of the Felmon D. Motley Community Service Award, presented by the Delaware State University Foundation.
The award recognizes individuals and organizations whose everyday work shows exceptional community service and leadership. For those of us who serve alongside Jvonne, the news comes as no surprise.
“I am truly humbled, honored, and grateful to receive the 2026 Felmon D. Motley Community Service Award. Serving others has never been about recognition. It’s about showing up with intention, leading with heart, and making a meaningful impact. Awards celebrate what we’ve done, but our legacy is defined by the lives we touch, the doors we open, and the difference that remains long after we leave the room.”
– Jvonne Oliver
A Career Built on Community Trust
Jvonne is a seasoned banking professional with more than 30 years in the financial industry. Today she serves as Financial Center Manager at Fulton Bank in Millsboro, a role she grew into after serving as a Financial Center Supervisor with the bank.

In community banking, the work is personal. A branch manager is often the person who helps a family open its first savings account, guides a small business owner through a loan, or explains a confusing statement with patience. Over three decades, Jvonne has built the kind of local trust that cannot be manufactured. It is earned one neighbor at a time.
Investing in the Next Generation
Jvonne’s service reaches well beyond the bank lobby. Since 2023 she has served on the board of Connecting Generations, a Delaware mentoring nonprofit. She also mentors directly through the organization.
In her own words, she joined to “make a meaningful impact in the lives of youth and bridge the gap between generations.” She believes mentorship fosters personal growth and helps young people reach their full potential, and she backs that belief with her time.

Strengthening SDARJ’s Board
Jvonne joined the SDARJ Board of Directors in 2025. She brings financial expertise, deep ties across Sussex County, and a steady commitment to fairness.
SDARJ is a non-partisan organization that educates, informs, and advocates for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunity in Southern Delaware. Fair opportunity includes economic opportunity. Jvonne’s perspective on access to banking, credit, and financial stability helps our board connect that mission to the daily lives of the families we serve.
An Award Named for a Legacy of Service
The award honors Felmon D. Motley, a 1948 graduate of Delaware State University. In 1952 he wrote the motto that still greets every DSU student: “May All Who Enter Here, Enter to Learn and Go Forth to Serve.” For more than 70 years, that call has shaped generations of graduates of Delaware’s historically Black university.
Jvonne is honored alongside an impressive inaugural class:
- Burris Logistics
- William Collick, DSU Trustee
- Michael Meoli, President of The Meoli Companies (McDonald’s)
- Lewes-Rehoboth Association of Congregations
A Word from Our Executive Director
“Jvonne lives the words Felmon Motley wrote more than seventy years ago. She learned, and she has gone forth to serve: in her financial center, with the young people she mentors, and around our board table. Economic opportunity is racial justice work, and Jvonne understands that better than most. We are proud to call her a colleague and grateful to the DSU Foundation for recognizing her.”
— Joseph Lawson, Executive Director, Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice
