SDARJ African American Achievement Award at Mariner Middle School
The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ) recently honored Mariner Middle School students Myan Greene and Geremiah Curtis for their leadership, effort, and excellence. The students were recognized in a ceremony at the school and received $20 gift cards to Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.
Myan Greene is a tremendous young man with a contagious smile. He brings energy and enthusiasm to everything he does. Myan was the captain of the football team this year and helped Mariner achieve its first winning season in eight years. Myan participates in the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program to prepare himself for college and a career. He is a Student Council vice president and helps organize many special events. He was also part of the Special Olympics bocce ball, lacrosse, and basketball teams.
Geremiah Curtis is a great, respectful, hardworking student who is doing really great things at Mariner Middle School. Like Myan, Geremiah is a Student Council vice president and participates in the AVID program. He is also a member of the Honor Society, the Junior Justice League, and Choir.
SDARJ initiated the African American Achievement award to recognize students who represent the ideals of leadership, improvement, effort, and excellence in their schools. Students from each school in the Cape Henlopen and Indian River School Districts are recognized throughout the school year. SDARJ is a nonpartisan organization that educates, informs, and advocates for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunity.
