SDARJ African American Achievement Award at Love Creek Elementary School
The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ) recently honored Love Creek Elementary School students Cassidy Smith and Jordin Reddix for their leadership, effort, and excellence. The students were recognized in a ceremony at the school and received $20 gift cards to Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.
Cassidy Smith exemplifies leadership, growth, effort, and excellence, both academically and within the school community. Cassidy is an active member of the Leading Ladies of Love Creek, where she consistently demonstrates what leadership looks like in action. She leads with confidence, integrity, and kindness, serving as a positive role model for her peers. Whether working collaboratively with others, supporting classmates, or taking initiative, Cassidy embodies the values Love Creek strives to instill in all students.
Throughout the school year, Cassidy has shown meaningful growth and perseverance. She approaches challenges with determination and a willingness to learn, reflecting a strong work ethic and a commitment to personal improvement. Her effort is evident not only in her academic progress but also in the way she carries herself as a learner and leader.

As a Spanish Immersion student, Jordin embraces the challenges of bilingual learning with determination and curiosity. She approaches her academic work with focus and persistence, showing a strong commitment to growth and understanding. Her willingness to engage in rigorous learning while navigating two languages speaks to her resilience and dedication as a scholar.
Jordin is also a proud member of the Leading Ladies of Love Creek, where she models leadership through empathy, collaboration, and service. She leads not by seeking attention, but by supporting others, listening thoughtfully, and offering encouragement when it is needed most. Her compassion and understanding are evident in the way she treats peers and adults alike, making her a trusted and respected member of our school.

SDARJ initiated the African American Achievement award to recognize students who represent the ideals of leadership, improvement, effort, and excellence in their schools. Students from each school in the Cape Henlopen and Indian River School Districts are recognized throughout the school year. SDARJ is a nonpartisan organization that educates, informs, and advocates for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunity.
