SDARJ African American Achievement Award at Lewes Elementary School
The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ) recently honored Lewes Elementary School fifth-graders Lyrical Cornelius and Camille Steinberg for their leadership, effort, and excellence. The students were recognized in a ceremony at the school and received $20 gift cards to Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.
Lyrical Cornelius is an exceptional leader in fifth grade. Her positivity is infectious, and she radiates kindness. Her teachers feel fortunate to have Lyrical in their classroom community. She goes out of her way to include others and makes everyone feel welcome.
Camille Steinberg is a kind and caring fifth- grader who has shown tremendous growth this year. She works hard, approaches challenges with a positive attitude, and brings a gentle, thoughtful presence to the classroom each day. Her effort and personal growth make her a standout student.
SDARJ initiated the African American Achievement award to recognize students who represent the ideals of leadership, improvement, effort, and excellence in their schools. Students from each school in the Cape Henlopen and Indian River School Districts are recognized throughout the school year. SDARJ is a nonpartisan organization that educates, informs, and advocates for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunity.
