SDARJ African American Achievement Award at John M. Clayton Elementary School
The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ) recently honored John M. Clayton Elementary fifth grader, Jaleigha Johnson, for her leadership, effort, and excellence. Jaleigha was recognized in a ceremony at the school and received a $20 bookstore gift card.
According to her teachers, Jaleigha is an exceptional student who consistently demonstrates what it means to be a dedicated learner. She is a very hard worker who puts maximum effort into everything she does. She takes responsibility for her own learning by asking thoughtful questions and seeking help when needed. Jaleigha is a model student who always shows respect, maturity, and self-control. She works diligently on staying organized and takes great pride in doing her best. Jaleigha is truly a pleasure to have in class.
SDARJ initiated the African American Achievement award to recognize students who represent the ideals of leadership, improvement, effort, and excellence in their schools. Students from each school in the Cape Henlopen and Indian River School Districts are recognized throughout the school year. SDARJ is a nonpartisan organization that educates, informs, and advocates for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunity.
