SDARJ African American Achievement Award at Beacon Middle School
The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ) recently honored Beacon Middle School students Ke’Jon Bland and Colton Wilson for their leadership, effort, and excellence. The students were recognized in a ceremony at the school and received $20 gift cards to Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.
Ke’Jon Bland serves as a model student to his peers. He is motivated to do well in school and demonstrates exemplary behavior in the classroom. His peers look up to him as a positive leader, always willing to volunteer and share his thoughts and opinions in class. His enthusiasm is contagious in both academic and athletic activities. Ke’Jon truly exemplifies what it means to be a young leader in his school community.
Colton Wilson is a multi-sport athlete who plays football, basketball, and baseball. Colton also excels in the classroom, putting together a first quarter report card with all A’s and B’s. Beyond his accomplishments on the ballfield and in the classroom, he is an outstanding young man in our school and community. Courteous and considerate to both students and staff, Colton is willing to offer a helping hand to all.
SDARJ initiated the African American Achievement award to recognize students who represent the ideals of leadership, improvement, effort, and excellence in their schools. Students from each school in the Cape Henlopen and Indian River School Districts are recognized throughout the school year. SDARJ is a nonpartisan organization that educates, informs, and advocates for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunity.
