Honoring Janet Orlando
“Janet Orlando, who was so instrumental in the establishment and leadership of the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice died on December 11, 2025. Janet’s Racial and Social Justice values, her meaningful opinions, her expertise and volunteer labor all contributed to the growth, legitimacy and community acceptance of SDARJ.
On behalf of the Board of SDARJ, it members and all who knew Janet via the organization, I express our sorrow for her death to her family, and affirm our gratitude for her significant servant-leadership . It was my privilege to have known and worked with her.”

Janet (sitting front right) was very involved with other community organizations such as Pathway to Success, American Civil Liberties Union, ACLU, League of Women Voters, and many others. Her presence at this event in the photo is indicative of her support for other organizations.
Everyone at the table were active leaders for Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice, SDARJ and with other area organizations. Janet believed in colllaborative work with others in support of respective Missions and Goals. She gave much volunteer time to many groups. She was well-respected and loved.
