About the book
This picture book introduces young readers to an instrumental figure in the struggle for civil rights. Coretta Scott King was her husband Martin’s partner in the fight for justice. From an early age, she stood strong against White violence directed toward her family in the South and later, discrimination when she was a music student in the North. Coretta found her voice as a classical singer, but she struggled to speak out when men thought she should be seen and not heard. When Martin died, it was Coretta who carried on the struggle to preserve his legacy for future generations.
This event is presented in partnership with Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ).
