SDARJ recognizes youth education participants

During the winter and spring, the youth education committee of the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice delivered Zoom modules to volunteer student participants from Sussex Tech, Sussex Academy and Cape Henlopen high schools.
The modules addressed the topics of cultural competence, anti-racism and the history of slavery in Delaware.
Module coordinators from the alliance virtually provided short lectures, discussions and breakout groups, and helped coordinate student development of shared resources. Read the entire Cape Gazette article here.

Call To Action on the One-Year Anniversary of George Floyd’s Death
Today marks the one-year anniversary of the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin. Chauvin’s murder and manslaughter convictions delivered some justice to Mr. Floyd’s family, but nationwide meaningful police reform continues to be necessary.

H.O. Brittingham students De’Naya Hinton and Jazon Jones were recognized in May with the African American/Black Achievement Award from the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice.
