Happy New Year! Hope you’re rested and ready to go! Join us for the first town hall of 2022 on January 11.
This town hall, presented in collaboration with the ACLU’s Smart Justice Campaign, will honor Martin Luther King and will examine his work from a different standpoint. In keeping with our 2021 presentations on Racial Justice Through Reimagining Policing, this town hall will examine Rev. King’s speeches and work that focus on Policing. Although Rev. King’s speeches focused on segregation through the lens of poverty, labor, global human rights and war, his work also focused extensively on police brutality and structural discrimination. Register for the Town Hall at: https://mlkpolicing.eventbrite.com
In case you missed it (or just want to view it again) the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ) celebrated the African-American holiday Kwanzaa during the December Town Hall. Click to view the SDARJ Kwanzaa celebration.

Cape Gazette | October 25, 2021
Because Black voices are conspicuously missing from high positions in areas of life that affect everyone, the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice is launching “Black Voices” magazine.
“Black Voices” will speak to the need of listening to these voices as equal partners in order to build a more just and equitable democracy.

The SDARJ November Town Hall will feature the voices of current and recently graduated students from across the State. We will explore the current status of racial dynamics in our schools based on students’ real-life experiences. We will discuss, from a student perspective: what school administrators and faculty are doing to improve racial dynamics and what challenges remain; the implications of having a faculty that reflects the diversity of the student body; the importance of teaching a more complete version of American history; and the issues that are on the minds of students today. Register for this Town Hall at: https://sdarjstudentvoices.eventbrite.com
All over the country, anti-voter extremists are passing laws to marginalize Black and Brown voters. The Freedom to Vote Act would stop those attacks by establishing a bold set of national standards to protect democracy so that no matter where you live or what you look like, your right to vote will not be infringed. Yet the bill has been blocked by a Senate rule, called the filibuster.
Please join us on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. to learn about the racist history of the filibuster and why it must be reformed or eliminated to protect the freedom to vote for all of us. It is free and open to the public, but registration is required: https://us02web.zoom.us/…/tZ0rd-2qpj8tHtJw2…
