Call for Volunteers for the Legislative Advocacy Committee
The Legislative Advocacy Committee needs you! We are seeking new members to assist us in advocating for legislation that advances our mission of racial justice. Through the work of the Committee, SDARJ has established a presence with the legislature in Dover. Our work and town halls have been cited as influencing legislators’ opinions. But we need help! We need members to help us:
- Monitor bills as they drop to see if they advance our mission of racial justice (or are even detrimental to our mission!)
- Represent SDARJ to other organizations that we collaborate with on issues such as probation reform, expungement, fines and fees, women’s reproductive health, affordable housing, voting rights, employee rights, and environmental justice.
- Are you a good writer? You can help us write calls to action to our legislators on important bills when they are in committee or coming to the floor to a vote.
- Do you like speaking or networking? You can help us by going to Dover and talking to legislators or testifying at committee hearings.
- Do you like spreadsheets? You can help us maintain a legislative spreadsheet of bills we are monitoring as they progress through the legislature.
SDARJ’s work cannot be done without volunteers like you! Please consider joining the Legislative Advocacy Committee!
Thank you.
