Black Summit 2026
After the 2024 election, a sizable number of African Americans in Delaware asked, “What are we going to do?” Others answered with conviction: “We must do something.” Together, these responses underscore the need for an organized, collective action plan that unites our community around goals, strategies, and tactics to advance the interests of African Americans in Delaware.
In that spirit, Black Summit 2026 will bring Black Delawareans together to at Delaware State University to develop an agenda that identifies our shared bonds and produces strategies, action steps, and measurable outcomes to help prevent further setbacks in the pursuit of a truly democratic America. The summit will also help define the priorities Black Delawareans view as essential to reducing or eliminating the racial disparities that harm our lives.

Because a realistic Black agenda cannot be developed in one day, follow-up meetings will be held in New Castle, Kent, and Sussex Counties. These meetings will bring together Civil Rights and Black Lives Matter veterans; young people essential to sustaining Delaware’s Black agenda; ministers; low-income residents affected by recent and proposed federal policies; members of the Divine Nine and the Delaware Legislative Black Caucus; and Delaware’s representatives in Washington, DC.
Black Summit 2026 will identify organizations and individuals who want to partner with African Americans to make equality a true reality in Delaware.
