SDARJ African American Achievement Award at HO Brittingham Elementary
The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ) recently honored H.O. Brittingham Elementary School students Ariella Cannon and Jayden Harris for their leadership, effort, and excellence. The students were recognized in a ceremony at the school and received $20 gift bookstore gift cards.
Ariella Cannon, a fourth grader, was selected for this award because she consistently demonstrates leadership both in and out of the classroom. Ariella shows strong academic growth and gives her best effort in learning and embracing challenges, which has helped her develop confidence in her abilities. In addition, Ariella’s involvement in the school’s robotics club reflects her curiosity, teamwork, and commitment to learning beyond the classroom.
Jayden Harris is also in fourth grade. He was recognized as a thoughtful, critical thinker who enjoys taking on challenges. Jayden scored well on state testing, reflecting his strong understanding and effort, and he consistently does his best and works hard in the classroom. In addition to his academic success, he has made meaningful social growth and demonstrates genuine enjoyment of learning.
SDARJ initiated the African American Achievement award to recognize students who represent the ideals of leadership, improvement, effort, and excellence in their schools. Students from each school in the Cape Henlopen and Indian River School Districts are recognized throughout the school year. SDARJ is a nonpartisan organization that educates, informs, and advocates for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunity.
