Honoring Love Creek Elementary students for their leadership, effort, and excellence.
The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ) recently honored Love Creek Elementary students Armanti Wilson and Jaxon Wright for their leadership, effort, and excellence.
Armanti supports his peers with disabilities. Peer support can make a significant difference in the lives of students with disabilities, and Armanti ensures these students feel included, valued, and empowered. He advocates for the inclusion of students with disabilities in social activities and group work. Armanti shows respect for his peers’ independence. With the help and support of adults, Armanti stands up against bullying behavior and supports his peers with disabilities if they are being mistreated.
Jaxon supports the equity initiatives at Love Creek. His actions show that a quiet voice does not mean no voice. Jaxon helps to empower other students through discussions and activities. He advocates for change and stands up for the right for all students to be heard in our school community. When you listen to him you will hear his passion for an inclusive, supportive, and empathetic environment for all.
Armanti and Jaxon were honored in a ceremony at the school and each received a $20 gift card to Browseabout Books in Rehoboth from SDARJ.
SDARJ initiated the African American Achievement award to recognize students who represent the ideals of leadership, improvement, effort, and excellence in their schools. Students from each school in the Cape Henlopen and Indian River School Districts are recognized throughout the school year. SDARJ is a nonpartisan organization that educates, informs, and advocates for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunity.
