Enter the “What Freedom Means to Me” Juneteenth Art Contest
In celebration of Juneteenth, the Richard Allen Coalition invites students to use their imaginations to bring to life “What does freedom mean to me?”
Students from kindergarten through their senior year of high school are invited to submit images or drawings and paintings. A winner will be selected from each of the following age groups: Grade K-4, Grade 5-8, and Grade 9-12. All artwork will be displayed at the Juneteenth Celebration at the Richard Allen School on Saturday, June 17, 2023.
Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom and acknowledges the June 19, 1865 abolition of slavery. The Richard Allen Coalition chose “What Does Freedom Mean to Me?” as the theme for the 2023 Art Contest because we want students to use their imaginations to define freedom in 2023 in the spirit of Juneteenth.
