SDARJ honored The Mariner Middle School students

The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ) recently honored The Mariner Middle School students Gawaun Curtis and Madison Roseboro for their leadership, improvement, effort, and excellence.

Gawaun’s teachers describe him as a role model for his peers. He is well liked and does well at both independent and group work. He consistently puts forth a lot of effort and can be counted on to be engaged and participate in all his classes.

According to Madison’s teachers, she always brings her best effort to all her classes. She is a positive role model and makes amazing contributions to her learning environment.

Each student received a $20 gift card to Browseabout Books in Rehoboth and the book, “Thurgood Marshall, Young Justice,” by Montrew Dunham. Browseabout is a sponsor of the award.

SDARJ initiated the African American Achievement award to recognize students who represent the ideals of leadership, improvement, effort, and excellence in their schools. Two students from each school in the Cape Henlopen School District are recognized throughout the school year. SDARJ is a nonpartisan organization that educates, informs, and advocates for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunity.
