Attend and Support Bans Off Our Bodies Demonstrations in Delaware: Protect Roe V. Wade
Members of the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice will speak at demonstrations in Wilmington or Seaford.
Senate Bill 8 that was passed in Texas earlier this summer and goes into effect on September 1, outlaws abortions after six weeks. This represents an almost total ban on abortion since most women do not know they are pregnant at this stage. In addition, the law allows private citizens to bring lawsuits against anyone suspected of having an abortion after six weeks, abortion providers who perform abortions after six weeks and even friends who transport a person to an abortion appointment.
Here are some facts: 79% of Americans do not want Roe V. Wade repealed. Repealing Roe V. Wade could put legal abortion out of reach for one-third of people ages 15-49 who may need it. Overturning Roe V. Wade would put more the 25 million women at risk of losing access to abortion – more than one-third of women of reproductive age in America. This includes women who live in Sussex County. More than 4.3 million Latinx women; nearly 3.5 million African American women;; more than 800,000 Asian women.
Join The Alliance and other fellow Delawareans to protect Wade v. Roe.
