The State of Criminal Justice Reform in Delaware

Our May meeting will feature Kate Parker West, JD, from the Delaware Center for Justice in a talk about the State of Criminal Justice Reform in Delaware. The audience is encouraged to bring questions for Mrs. Parker West.

The Delaware Center for Justice has been laser-focused on reform issues like pre-trial detention, diversionary services, and the money bail system in an attempt to reduce incarceration rates, which strongly impact on Delaware’s minority communities. Mrs. Parker West will cover those reform issues and speak to the current efforts in the General Assembly to revive and reform the criminal code so that it is more relevant, user-friendly and reasonable.

The Delaware Center for Justice’s mission is to transform the quality of justice through advocacy, policy and practice.  They have been introducing and implementing programs that bring about fresh starts for youth at risk and adult inmates.

The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice usually meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 pm, at the Trinity Faith Christian Center at 15516 New Road in Lewes. Our program and business meetings are open to the public. Come to our meetings to learn about racial justice issues, and find out how you may want to become involved with SDARJ.
