Attorney General Matt Denn and Public Defender Brendan O’Neill Talk About “What Happens After You’re Accused of a Crime in Delaware”

This meeting is a follow-up to our September 20th Police Chiefs’ Forum about policing initiatives to improve community relations, address crime and violence and ensure public safety. Many who attended that meeting asked that we continue to look at all aspects of the criminal justice system, especially those that most immediately affect families and communities.

The November 15 forum will continue the conversation and will increase our awareness of the  respective roles and responsibilities of the defense attorney and the prosecutor,  the laws that bind them, and the reforms that are needed to impact positively on mass incarceration and recidivism in our criminal justice system.  It is an opportunity to learn about the many laws in the Delaware code that guide the determinations of guilt or innocence, the length of prison sentences, the use of plea bargaining and other aspects affecting real justice.

The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice usually meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 pm, at the Trinity Faith Christian Center at 15516 New Road in Lewes. Our program and business meetings are open to the public. Come to our meetings to learn about racial justice issues, and find out how you may want to become involved with SDARJ.
