Black History Month Observation

Event Details

Hear Charlotte King reflect on black history and watch the film, “Slavery by Another Name”

Join the League of Women Voters of Sussex County and SDARJ to observe Black History Month on Monday, Feb 20; 1:00 – 3:30 pm at the Lewes Library (111 Adams Avenue). Charlotte King, former President of the LWVDE and SDARJ founder, will share her reflections on Black History as it relates to current history since the abolition of slavery after the Civil War. Charlotte’s talk will be followed by the film, “Slavery by Another Name,” a 90-minute documentary that challenges one of Americans’ most cherished assumptions: the belief that slavery in this country ended with the Emancipation Proclamation.
